This is one of the scarcest pieces of WWI headgear we have ever offered. During the war, there were roughly 35,000 Wilmer Eye Shields manufactured, but only about a dozen of these ever saw anything other than the inside of a crate. The vast majority of these were melted down after the war, so this is one of roughly 12 15 still in existence. The Wilmer Eye Shield was designed and developed by eye specialist Colonel W.
